Peter Shapiro has been experimenting with video as both a creative and performance tool and for building community since the mid 70’s.
A New York based Life Coach and Artist. The stories his dreamlike images capture, speak to the heart. It is this same intuitive energy that opens deep channels of communication and bonding with his clients, as a coach. .
Capturing brilliant slice of life moments, giving voice to people and creatures not usually heard.
Making video’s related to environmental and social justice issues.

Back in the 70s, there were no cell phones, computers or video cameras for the people. TV stations and corporations were the only ones who could afford to use Video. Because of such limited media access, making art, community and activism were inexorably intertwined. It has influenced his path ever since.

His visual projects include;
Art Venice Biennale, The Museum of the City of New York, showcased his piece as part of their 2 year Exhibit on the
History of Activism in New York. His Hurricane Sandy video pieces are part of BikeReady, as part of NYC READY http://www.greenmap.org/greenhouse/en/node/25819
These were originally included in the Relief Concert Documentary “12/12/12”.
Other collaborations have been shown or staged at; the Chelsea Art Museum, the United Nations, Lincoln Center, Warhol Museum, MOCA L.A., the Museum of Natural History, the BBC, Knockdown Center, Outpost Artists Resources, and performance spaces throughout New York City, and the world.

His video pieces on environmental and social justice have been showcased on media sites as varied as: The New York Times, Vanity Fair, Village Voice, Huffington Post, Democracy Now, Discovery Networks, The Gothamist, “L” Magazine, ThinkProgress, bikesnob. and has been re-posted through-out the blogosphere.

He likes documenting hidden moments, the dance of life in urban nature, things he sees while riding his bike.
